St Mary Magdalene

On 22 July, our Church and congregation was buzzing as we celebrated the Patronal Day of St Mary Magdalene. The day started with a Prayer Breakfast at the Vicarage, during which we learnt why our church was named St Mary Magdalene. This was followed by a reading of a passage from Ephesians by Barbara, which we all discussed, then prayers and finally (!) breakfast. Next we enjoyed a lively 10 o’clock service that concluded with a crescendo of organ music followed by tea and coffee.  Some of us stayed for the 'bring and share picnic’ that was held in the Church due to the very hot weather. Over a lively, chatty couple of hours, we shared food, looked at photo albums and remembered old friends. At 2pm, the tower opened for quite a few brave souls to climb and enjoy the view; Steve and Julie kindly directed the climbers to the various points of interest viewable from the top of the tower. At 3.30, Mary Mansell gave a very informative guided tour of the interior of the church, providing great detail on the beautiful stained glass windows and the impressive memorials of local gentry.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORSHIP
At St Mary Magdalene Church:
July
You may not realise that all are welcome to the communion service at 10am on Sunday mornings.

In addition to music and words, we offer worshippers bread and wine and/or a prayer of blessing.

People light prayer candles and seek healing prayer for themselves and people for whom they are concerned.

Please join us if you haven’t before and especially if you live right next to the church!!!

Bible interest groups are held around the villages some fortnightly, some weekly.  A short service is held with the children at the Weald School from 9.20-9.40am every Weds.

You are all welcome to everything.  Ring BSA for details.  (889118)
